Nathan Ake has been crowned as the Supporters’ Player of the Season for the 2017/18 campaign.

The Netherlands international has impressed in his first full season since signing from Chelsea on a permanent basis in the summer.

And, with 66 percent of the vote, Ake topped the pile after a two-week period during which supporters were able to have their say on the award.

Ake has featured in every Premier League game throughout the course of the season, scoring crucial goals against West Ham United and Chelsea.

“I’m really thankful to the fans for voting for me,” Ake told the club’s matchday programme. “It means a lot to me.”

“I was here on loan before, but it was a new start for me and feel like I’ve grown into the season. Straight away I heard the songs from the supporters and gave me more confidence.

“The manager has helped me a lot and has given me confidence and I have to thank everyone who has helped me this season.”

Lewis Cook came in second place with 12 percent of the vote, with Ryan Fraser rounding off the top three with 4.7 percent.

Ake also won the Junior Cherries’ Player of the Season, ahead of Lewis Cook and Callum Wilson.

The manager has helped me a lot and has given me confidence.
