AFC Bournemouth have signed centre-back Nat Phillips on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old’s move to Vitality Stadium is his first UK-based loan switch of his career, having spent the 2019/20 season with VfB Stuttgart.

The son of former Bolton Wanderers star Jimmy Phillips, he began his youth career with the Trotters. He joined the Liverpool academy ahead of the 2016/17 season following a successful trial.

He became a member of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad for the 2018/19 season and was a member of the travelling party for the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.

A former Liverpool Under 23s captain, Phillips has made 17 appearances for the Reds so far, and scored his first goal for the club in a 3-0 win over Burnley in May 2021.

Phillips is the second arrival on deadline day for the Cherries and the fourth in the January window.
