AFC Bournemouth have signed Manchester United full-back Ethan Laird on loan until the end of the season.

An England Under-19 international, Laird is an attacking, right-sided full back who has impressed while on loan at Swansea City during the first half of the season.

Originally from Basingstoke, 20-year-old Laird has been with United since the age of 15 and made his competitive debut for the club in December 2019, coming on as a substitute in the 4-0 Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at MK Dons, making 24 appearances for the League One outfit.

Laird is the Cherries’ second new addition of the January transfer window and will wear the number three shirt.

Neill Blake, AFC Bournemouth Chief Executive, said: “Ethan is an exciting prospect and we are very pleased to have brought him on board. His style of play fits perfectly with ours and I’m confident he can help us build on what has been an excellent first half of the season.

“He has impressed during his two previous loan spells and is very well thought of at Manchester United, so we couldn’t be happier to have secured his services.”
