Ten Years Ago: Promotion against Carlisle

Today marks the tenth anniversary of AFC Bournemouth clinching promotion to the Championship.

A 3-1 win over Carlisle United on April 20th 2013 saw the club return to the second flight following a 23-year absence.

Steve Cook's first goal for the Cherries paved the way for victory with Harry Arter and Brett Pitman also on target.

Eddie Howe's team had a brief wait before their promotion was confirmed after fellow high-fliers Brentford failed to beat Hartlepool in a late kick-off.

But the Bees' draw and a shock home defeat for second-placed Doncaster against Notts County assured them of a top-two finish with one game remaining.
