Young midfielder Dominic Sadi believes the development squad can ‘thrive’ during their Premier League Cup campaign.

Shaun Cooper’s side was drawn in Group B of this season's competition, pitting them against Brighton & Hove Albion, Derby County and Queens Park Rangers.

The team’s schedule gets underway on Wednesday night in a 7pm kick-off against the Seagulls at their American Express Elite Football Performance Centre.

Ahead of the game, Sadi told afcb.co.uk: “It’s a big challenge but the boys and I, we’ll thrive on big challenges.

“Whether the opposition is category one or category two, we like to play as the underdogs and work hard to get points and do our best.”

He added: “This is a first for me and I’m just waiting for the moment to happen, going out there and getting minutes in.

“It’ll be great to have a new experience in going out there to try and help the team get a win."

Despite being clear that the opening fixture against category one Brighton is a tough test, Sadi feels the development squad has prepared well.

He said: “It’s a big challenge for us at the beginning of the Premier League Cup but we’ve been straight on it and training has been good and sharp.

“Hopefully, we can get the win and get our first three points.”

The midfielder signed for the Cherries in May and has been involved with both the development squad and the first team since his arrival.

Despite still being in the first few months as a Cherries player, Sadi feels he has settled in well at Vitality Stadium.

“It’s been lovely,” he explained. “Everyone in training is making me comfortable and I feel part of the family now; it’s been amazing.”
