AFC Bournemouth under-21s midfielder Ben Whitfield has joined Port Vale on loan until January.
Whitfield has been a regular feature for the Bournemouth under-21s during pre-season ahead of making the move to the League Two side, also featuring for the first team in their Vitality Stadium friendly with La Liga's Valencia.
Following relegation at the end of last season, the Valiants begin their campaign away to Harry Kewell's Crawley Town on Saturday.
Whitfield spent last season on loan with Yeovil Town, featuring 42 times for the Glovers and scoring three times.
