Match gallery: Pair return in QPR defeat

Michael Dacosta Gonzalez and Toure Williams both took their first steps on the comeback trail in AFC Bournemouth’s 3-2 defeat by fellow Professional Development League high-fliers QPR on Wednesday.

Frontman Dacosta Gonzalez missed seven games after suffering a knee injury at the end of January, while midfielder Williams was sidelined for three months after damaging ankle ligaments in training.

They both came off the bench against QPR at Wimborne Town’s New Cuthbury with Dacosta Gonzalez netting a well-taken goal two minutes from time to set up a grandstand finish.

He replaced Kian Tydeman at half-time as the Cherries trailed 2-0 to first-half goals from Nathan Jeche and Steven Bala.

Williams came on for Max Kinsey midway through the second half and after Jonny Stuttle had struck five minutes after the restart to reduce the arrears.

Rafferty Pedder restored the visitors’ two-goal lead seven minutes from time before Dacosta Gonzalez scored with a composed finish from a Noa Boutin cross late on.
