Finn Tonks and Dan Adu-Adjei were on target as the AFC Bournemouth development squad maintained their impressive form by beating Watford in the Professional Development League.

The Cherries trailed to Laken Torres’s first-half opener at Wimborne’s New Cuthbury but came from behind to make it 12 games unbeaten in all competitions.

Victory saw Alan Connell’s team close the gap on leaders QPR to one point ahead of hosting fifth-placed Ipswich Town at Vitality Stadium on Tuesday 5th December (7pm kick-off).

Watford, under the charge of ex-Cherries star Charlie Daniels, broke the deadlock through Torres in the ninth minute and frustrated the Cherries for large parts of the first half.

But Connell’s team dug deep into their resources and showed tremendous character to battle back with Tonks rifling home his second goal of the season in the 77th minute.

And Adu-Adjei sealed victory just five minutes later, the striker applying the finishing touches to a fine move to register his 14th goal of the season.
