AFC Bournemouth’s development squad will visit National League South Weymouth in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, 27th July (2pm kick-off).

The game will see former Cherries teammates Alan Connell and Mark Molesley go head-to-head in opposite dugouts.

Connell and Molesley were part of the AFC Bournemouth team who pulled off the Greatest Escape during the club’s 2008-09 campaign, where the Cherries started the season with a 17-point deduction in League Two.

Molesley is in his second spell as manager of the Terras, having returned to the Bob Lucas Stadium in April.

The former midfielder masterminded Weymouth to back-to-back promotions in 2018-19 and 2019-2020.

The Cherries development squad finished their inaugural season third in the Professional Development League South Group, narrowly missing out on the play-offs on goal difference.

Connell's side will then make the trip to face Wimborne Town at New Cuthbury on Saturday, August 3rd.

The Magpies won Southern League Division One South last season, sealing promotion back to Southern League Premier.

Academy striker Jonny Stuttle featured for Tim Sills's side during the run-in, having joined them on a work-experience loan in February.
