Boutin links up with Weymouth

AFC Bournemouth development squad defender Noa Boutin has joined Weymouth on a work experience loan.

Boutin, who can also operate as a left winger, could make his debut when the Terras host National League South rivals Ebbsfleet United on Saturday.

Born in Paris, Boutin became the first French player to join the AFC Bournemouth academy when he signed in the summer of 2020.

Now a third-year scholar, Boutin has made excellent progress at Vitality Stadium, graduating from the under-18s to the development squad this season.

He was crowned Cherries’ Scholar of the Year last season, a reward for his sterling efforts both on and off the pitch, and trains regularly with Scott Parker's first-team squad.

Boutin featured prominently as Alan Connell’s under-18s reached the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup and lifted the EFL Youth Alliance title.

The 18-year-old made seven appearances during a loan spell with Southern Premier South outfit Poole Town last season, playing his part as the Dolphins won the Dorset Senior Cup.

Weymouth, relegated from the National League last season, opened their campaign with a 3-1 defeat against Tonbridge Angels at the Bob Lucas Stadium last Saturday.
