Walking Football group in charity challenge

AFC Bournemouth’s walking football group have been putting their time to good use while sessions have been postponed due to Covid-19.

Due to the lockdown, the team, who play and train under the watch of Community Sports Trust coaches, set themselves a challenge and raised a total of £336 for Prostate Cancer.

Having heard the sad news that former England goalkeeper, Ray Clemence, had passed away in November, the group decided to walk a total of 61 miles, one for every international cap he won.

The challenge took place on Tuesday 24th November, with the various teams splitting up and walking in local areas such as Weymouth, Boscombe, Poole, Avon Beach, Barton, Highcliffe and Arne.

In total, over 180 miles were covered across all locations, with the sky blue team topping the lot by completing 50.
