Under-14 girls reach semi-finals

Debutant Mia stole the show as the under-14 girls progressed in the cup.

A 2-0 victory over Mole Valley ensured that the Cherries made it through to the semi-final of the Surrey FA under-14 Girls Youth County Cup.

A brace from new signing Mia confirmed the win for AFC Bournemouth, who secured their place in the final four.

Working hard from the start, the Cherries looked to play forward and get on the front foot.

The game was very end to end, with both teams defending well but struggling to break the deadlock.

As half time approached, Mia scored her first of the game following some excellent combination play.

Continuing much the same way after the break, Sophie A. defended well to prevent Mole Valley from equalising, along with some excellent bravery from Chloe in goal.

The second Cherries goal followed shortly as Mia again latched onto a ball coming into the box from wide, where Lucy and Lily were causing problems for the Mole Valley defence.

Praising the under-14 girls for their achievements, women and girls development officer David Staddon said, “I was very pleased with how the team worked together throughout the whole game in what were very difficult conditions!

“This should hold them in good shape moving into the semi-finals.”

The win see’s AFC Bournemouth progress to the semi-final of the Surrey FA under-14 Girls Youth County Cup, where they will play AFC Wimbledon Yellows in February.
