Pupils from The Grange School visited Vitality Stadium this week to take part in sustainable events in preparation for Green Football Weekend.
Kicking off their morning, the students heard from Vice President of Business and Hospitality, Paul Fudge, who also oversees sustainability work at AFC Bournemouth.
They spent time learning about the actions already being taken by the club in the different departments and the considerations being made for future developments.
Following their workshop session, the groups experienced cooking in the kitchen with club’s head chef. As part of their activity, they prepared the meal being offered in the hospitality suites as part of Green Football Weekend, using locally sourced vegetarian ingredients.
On top of this, the group received a donation of old playing kit for them to recycle and reuse with any local community groups or organisations.
Speaking after the event, Head of Community Steve Cuss told afcb.co.uk: “As we approach Green Football Weekend, we were delighted to welcome The Grange School to Vitality Stadium.
“The pupils enjoyed the day finding out about sustainable initiatives across AFC Bournemouth and how these are impacted on a daily basis and with future plans.”
Green Football Weekend is an initiative backed by professional football clubs, with a dedicated weekend of 2-5th February. Over the course of that weekend, clubs will take part in greener games to showcase their on-going sustainability work, whilst engaging their fanbase in the issue.
