AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

Another busy weekend of action for the AFC Bournemouth girls saw the two oldest age groups progress to the final of their Hampshire County Cup competition, while the two younger teams competed in the Hampshire Girls League.

Under-10s

The under-10s returned to league action with an away tie against Hamble. The team played some great football, showing what they have worked on in training and being successful with their style.

Phoebe C. got her name on the scoresheet with well-taken goals, which came from forward passes into space.

Hamble defended excellently, but some patient play from the AFC Bournemouth side allowed them to create more chances, which Charley and Phoebe M. were able to convert.

Under-12s

The under-12 girls hosted AFC Portchester. In terrible conditions, both teams still battled hard and played out an excellent game.

The Cherries were dominant throughout, and created some excellent first half chances, which were expertly converted by Holly and Kelcey.

The second half continued in the same fashion as the first, with AFC Bournemouth making the most of their chances. Alice, Zara, Aimee C. Talullah and Amiee L. all scored following the break.

Under-14s

Also playing at home were the under-14 girls, who welcomed Rew Valley from the Isle of Wight for the Hampshire County Cup semi-final tie.

A good pace was set by both teams during the first half.

Kitty opened the scoring for the Cherries as she slotted home a great through ball from Elle. To double their lead, Lucy then latched on to a through pass to finish well.

The Cherries were playing some excellent football, which was rewarded by additional first half goals from Lucy and Hannah F., who scored through a great 30-yard effort.

After the break, the AFC Bournemouth team continued as they had left off, as Kitty scored another two goals to complete her hat-trick.

Despite the Cherries dominance, as the game progressed the visitors grew more into the match and scored two goals in reply though pressing and winning the ball high up the pitch.

Although, the opposition had found a way back into the game, it wasn’t enough and AFC Bournemouth progressed to the County Cup final, after an impressive 6-2 victory.

Under-16s

AFC Bournemouth under-16 girls will also play in the Hampshire Cup County final later this season, following an outstanding 9-1 win against their counterparts from Winchester Flyers.

Despite Winchester taking a very early lead, the Cherries worked hard to get back into the game and level the score, which was done through Lily S.

Both sides continued to have chances throughout the first half, but Bournemouth were stepping up the tempo to create more chances, which saw Lily S. score again in the first half.

As the second half kicked off, Winchester looked bright but the Cherries were able to respond well and Lily S. scored her third of the game.

To finish the game off and confirm their place in the Hampshire County Cup final, Lauren, Mia, Lucy and Grace M. all added to the scoresheet, while Lily S. netted her fourth of the game.
