A round up from the latest weekend of community fixtures, which saw three girls teams in action and three Ability Counts teams play.

Read how they all got on below!

Girls football

Last weekend saw the return of football for the AFC Bournemouth girls teams following the month-long lockdown.

The youngest two age groups played their Hampshire Girls League Cup fixtures, whilst the under-16s returned to Junior Premier League action.

Under-11s

The under-11 girls progressed in their cup competition, in a thrilling game away at Stoneham.

The youngest of our four teams worked hard to get a good result and played some excellent football in their first fixture since October.

Under-12s

The under-12s also progressed with a 6-2 win away at Hamble.

The Cherries led 3-0 at half-time and ended the game with five different players on the scoresheet.

A brace from Ruby, as well as goals from Scarlett, Eloise, Phoebe M and Teagan sealed the win.

Under-16s

In a return to the Junior Premier League, the under-16 girls lost 2-1 away at West Ham.

The hosts scored within the opening ten minutes, while the Cherries couldn’t find their opener, Lucy, Faith and Hannah all going close.

The equaliser came through a well-worked team goal finished by Faith from the edge of the box but, before the end of the first half, West Ham converted a penalty to regain the lead.

Despite more opportunities from Hannah, Faith and Lucy in the second period, none found the back of the net and the game finished in West Ham’s favour.

Ability Counts

The under-12 and under-16 Ability Counts teams played their first fixtures since the league came to a premature end in March.

Under-12 Blacks

The Blacks faced opposition from Hamble, Pompey ITC and Brandon BB.  They picked up two wins and a draw and, in their opening game against Hamble, Eric scored a fantastic goal on his debut.

The team scored another four goals across their remaining two games, Eric taking his total to the day for four and Emily scoring after a solo run and brilliant shot into the top right-hand corner in the game against Pompey ITC.

Under-12 Reds

The Reds netted an impressive ten goals in their three games, with Noah in top form in front of goal and scoring in each of the games. Musa, Kai, Ethan and Monti all also found the target throughout the morning.

Up the other end of the pitch, the team were equally as strong, not conceding a goal in any of the morning’s matches.

Under-16s

The under-16 team kicked off their season, with many new players moving up from the younger age group.

In their first game, the effort and hard work from training stood out as Mitch and Luis combined well in midfield, playing the ball around the opposition defence for the latter to score the opening goal, before combing again later in the game as Mitch got on the scoresheet.

The Cherries side went on to pick up two more wins from their fixtures against Hamble and Eastleigh. Mitch and Luis continued to combine well to create and finish, with both remaining games ending 2-0.
