Pugh visits Care South's Wickmeads

Residents and Staff at Care South's Wickmeads care home were delighted to have Marc Pugh join them for a morning kick-around with the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust.

The Cherries midfielder, who is an ambassador for the partnership between Care South and the club, joined the residents in a game of seated football as he met residents at the home in Southbourne.

The popular player, who has been at the Vitality Stadium since the summer of 2010, also spoke to the residents about the team’s performance as the season comes to a close.

Karen Taylor, Home Manager at Wickmeads, commented: “We were delighted to have Marc join us, many of the residents are lifelong AFC Bournemouth fans so they thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and challenging him to a game of football with a difference!

“The Community Sports Trust visit us on a regular basis, the residents always really enjoy the sessions which encourage them to take part in light exercise, as well as encouraging social interation.”

The visit from Marc Pugh is thanks to the long running partnership with the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust which sees them visit homes on a regular basis to engage residents in chair football sessions, meet players as well as visits to the Vitality Stadium for coffee mornings and to watch the occasional home match.
