Matchday experience for female football attendees

AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust were delighted to welcome a selection of participants from the weekly ‘girls only’ coaching sessions to Vitality Stadium for the Aston Villa match.

A group of girls, who attend the development coaching sessions, supported by Bournemouth University, were selected to represent the Cherries a fixture against their counterparts, Crystal Palace. They played a 40-minute match prior to kick-off on the 3G pitches at Vitality Stadium.

Additionally, the girls from both clubs enjoyed the opportunity to be flagbearers as the players entered the pitch and, at half-time, they had another exciting chance to go on the pitch as they took part in the penalty shoot-out.

Speaking about the match day experience, head of community Steve Cuss said: "Matchdays are a fantastic way of bringing together participants from our girls development sessions, providing the opportunity to play a match and to take part in the events inside the stadium.

"We were delighted to welcome Crystal Palace to be part of the day and share in such a positive experience."

AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust offer weekly ‘girls only’ football coaching opportunities at venues in Bournemouth and Brockenhurst.
