Masterclass for Junior Cherries

A group of Junior Cherries members spent a day of their half-term holiday learning leadership skills required for a career in football.

Organised by the club’s Community Sports Trust, 24 invited youngsters undertook the official FA Junior Football Leaders Award at Vitality Stadium.

The initiative, awarded by FA Education, is a mix of practical and classroom-style learning and covers four main areas – assisting football activity sessions, an introduction to refereeing, helping with a team and different football events.

In addition, respect as well as promoting and developing the game were other subjects covered.

The Junior Cherries took part in a question-and-answer session with Cherries goalkeepers Mark Travers, Will Dennis and Joe Besant who were on hand to share their experiences and help with the outside sessions.

It was the first event in the Junior Cherries Masterclass Series and members are advised to look out for more information on future masterclasses via email and on the club website – afcb.co.uk.

Junior Cherries are kindly sponsored by Bournemouth University, Hot Rocks, Splashdown and Lemur Landings.
