Kelly joins in with soccer safety workshop

AFC Bournemouth defender, Lloyd Kelly, has been speaking with children in the local area about the importance of staying safe on the road.

With many students returning to school next week, the workshop couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.

In partnership with local transport company, Yellow Buses, 13 children from the Community Sports Trust’s Premier League Kicks and girls’ teams participated in the session with Kelly, who is the player ambassador of the soccer safety programme.

A brief presentation was given by community coaches, before the defender took part in a question-and-answer session via Zoom.

However, it wasn’t just the children on the call who benefitted, as the workshop was also recorded for distribution to school teachers, who can now deliver the session to their students in a classroom environment.

Additionally, the club produced an activity book this week, which can be downloaded here, and used to help educate youngsters on the importance of staying safe on the road.

Following the event, head of community, Steve Cuss, shared his thoughts on the event: “Having Lloyd join us for an online lesson was fantastic for all the children involved, who each got the opportunity to ask a question. Lloyd responded with some great advice for them all.

“We are grateful to Lloyd and the continued support of Yellow Buses in being able to deliver the road safety workshops”

AFC Bournemouth would like to extend its thanks to Yellow Buses, who themselves have been continuing to help the community during such a difficult period.
