Junior Cherries open training day a great success

Hundreds of young AFC Bournemouth supporters got the chance to meet their heroes ahead of the Premier League season's kick-off.

Junior Cherries members not only got to meet their favourite stars, but to get autographs and pictures at Vitality Stadium.

On top of that, the youngsters got a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how manager Eddie Howe prepares the players, watching a segment of the squad's training session ahead of Saturday's league opener against West Bromwich Albion.

The Junior Cherries Open Training event, sponsored by Heart FM Radio, saw nearly 700 supporters enter Vitality Stadium, with fun and games as well as freebies sorted out by the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust.

Heart ran a special competition for supporters which saw two lucky Junior Cherries winners and their families of five win the opportunity to visit the Heart FM Studio and get to have a tour and listen to the breakfast show live.

Young supporters also got the opportunity to put questions to defender Steve Cook who volunteered to take part in a Q&A for the supporters in the stands.

Fellow defender Charlie Daniels said: "It was great to see so many people turn out and to put smiles on so many people's faces.

"It's important for us to remain close to the supporters and to encourage the next generation of supporters."
