Girls teams in Surrey FA Cup action

Last Sunday, the AFC Bournemouth under-14 and under-16 girls looked to continue their Surrey FA Cup campaigns.

The under-14 girls travelled to Meadow Sports Girls. From the outset, the team were in a good rhythm of play and took the lead after just two minutes through Hannah H., who followed up shortly after with another well taken goal.

Kitty and Aimee weighed in with goals prior to half time, both of which displayed their ability to score from distance when space allows. The Cherries went in at half time, with a strong 4-0 lead.

Throughout the second half, the team continued their passing style of play, with some excellent contributions centrally and in wide areas.

This kept the opposition pinned back in their own half for long periods, which allowed Aimee and Kitty to get their names on the scoresheet again in a comprehensive 6-0 victory, seeing the side progress to the cup semi-finals.

Meanwhile, the under-16 girls travelled to Mole Valley for their Surrey FA Cup tie.

The Cherries started strongly in possession, switching play and going forwards with quality. Their quality and enthusiasm saw them take a 2-0 lead early into the game.

Mole Valley were able to score two goals within the second period of play, but this was cancelled out by another three efforts from the Cherries, which consolidated a strong performance and also saw them through to the next round of the competition.

Both teams did extremely well to progress, playing their second matches of the weekend on Sunday.
