AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

Another weekend of fixtures for AFC Bournemouth’s girls saw all four teams in action.

Under-10s

Welcoming Hamble to Bournemouth School for Girls for their next league game, the under-10 girls played some excellent football. They passed the ball well through the thirds and made it difficult at times for their opponents to get much of the ball.

The first half saw some great individual goals, firstly from Zuzanna, who took on a couple of players before slotting home, and Phoebe C. who cut inside from the corner flag to beat the Hamble goalkeeper at the near post.

The second-half saw much of the same for the Cherries, with Krystal scoring an impressive header from a corner.

Under-12s

It was the Cherries who got the home game against Andover underway, but it would be the away team who would score first. After taking the lead, Andover remained dominant and had a strong spell of possession, not allowing any way back into the game for the hosts before the break.

The second half got underway and the Cherries started well, applying early pressure to the Andover back-line. Goals were added by Izzy, Aimee C. and Holly, with additional chances for the team throughout the half.

A great second half performance ensured that the team picked up all three points in a 3-2 victory.

Under-14s

For the second time in as many weeks, the under-14 girls played their counterparts from the University of Portsmouth.

A windy morning made it difficult for the side to produce their usual quality of passing, but the team played well under the conditions to break the deadlock after 16 minutes, with a well-driven shot from Elle.

This set the tone of the match as the Cherries went on to dominate large spells of possession, although the University of Portsmouth side did look threatening from counter-attacks.

Pleasingly, this game saw lots of different goalscorers for the Cherries, including hat-tricks from Elle, Lucy and Kitty, and another clean-sheet for Orlaith in goal.

Under-16s

A positive start for the Cherries saw both Lily S. and Mia make some excellent runs into the final third, with Erin coming close to opening the scoring from a fantastic cross.

The Cherries showed their dominance throughout the half and gave Winchester few chances to take the lead. The defensive pairing of Liv P. and Be-Be worked hard and dealt well with any threats.

The hosts continued working hard during the second half and created some early chances, forcing the Winchester goalkeeper into action.

AFC Bournemouth were in control, and mid-way through the second half their hard work paid off as Maddie played a lovely ball for Erin to slide it past the oncoming Winchester ‘keeper, putting the Cherries 1-0 and giving them all three points.
