AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

The latest round up from our four girls’ teams.

Under-10

In a tough game, against good opposition, AFC Bournemouth played Mudeford Girls in their League Cup final on Saturday.

Both Phoebe C. and Phoebe M. netted in the first half for the Cherries, but two goals for Mudeford ahead of the interval saw the teams go into the break level at 2-2.

Nevertheless, second half goals from Charley, Krystal and Tilly saw AFC Bournemouth take control of the game, while some excellent defending from Olivia, Katie and Pearl in goal kept Mudeford out and the girls ran out 5-2 winners in the Hampshire League Cup.

Under-12

A very competitive League Cup final between AFC Bournemouth and Pompey in the Community was played in great spirit on Saturday.

Pompey grew into the game well and scored the first and only goal, with some great individual skill from the right-winger.

As a result, the Cherries finished runners up in their League Cup final.

Under-14

The Cherries hosted Fareham Town over the weekend, with a fine display from the youngsters.

Sophie D, Hannah H, Aimee, Freya, Sophie M, Elle, Lucy and Georgia got their names on the scoresheet in the win, whilst goalkeeper Orlaith kept another clean-sheet for the side.

The team now look forward to preparing for their cup final against Pompey in the Community next weekend.

Under-16

The under-16s faced a tricky test against Southampton Women, with both sides playing some good football.

AFC Bournemouth’s Be-Be had the best chance of the opening half, being denied by the opposing ‘keeper, while Grace, in goal for the Cherries, then kept her side in it with an excellent save late on.

A tightly-contested game, it finished goalless with the points shared.
