Last weekend, three out of the four AFC Bournemouth girls’ teams continue their Hampshire League campaigns after another busy week of training.
The under-10s travelled locally to play Mudeford. Both teams started the game well, with the better of the early chances falling to the hosts, who hit the post midway through the first half.
The Cherries’ youngest age group showed their dominance throughout the second half, with new players Zuzzanna and Krystal linking up to score their first goals for the club.
Meanwhile, the under-12 girls also travelled away as they played a competitive Andover New Street. Aimee C. was quick to open the scoring for the Cherries, as she netted her first goal of the game inside six minutes.
Andover settled into the game and asked questions of the AFC Bournemouth defence, however at the other end of the pitch Aimee C. was working hard to further add to the Cherries’ advantage, which she did by scoring her second goal 20 minutes in.
Sisters, Aimee L. and Georgia, combined well within the Bournemouth half to counter quickly for Holly to score the Cherries’ third just before half time.
The game continued in the Cherries’ favour throughout the second half, with Aimee C. completing her hat-trick after being assisted by goalkeeper Maddie, who pulled off a spectacular double save to clear the ball into the path of the Cherries striker.
Andover continued to cause problems for AFC Bournemouth, as they pulled two goals back in the final ten minutes of the game, which saw it end 4-2.
The final game of the weekend saw the under-14s win in spectacular fashion as they hosted Bournemouth Sports, just two weeks after they last had met.
From kick-off the Cherries worked hard and showed quality in possession to work plenty of early chances on goal.
Maya opened her account for the season in her first appearance, as she netted first for the Cherries. The style of play continued throughout the half, with further goals coming from Emily, Faith, Hannah F. and Aimee.
After half time further goals were converted by Hannah F., Elle and Lucy, before lapses in concentration allowed the opponents to score from long range.
Pleasingly, this appeared to galvanise the team, who continued to play some free flowing football, with more goals coming from Lucy, Elle, and Kitty.
