Last weekend, saw all four AFC Bournemouth girls teams compete in the Hampshire Girls League for the first time this season.

The under-14s and under-16s had already kicked off their seasons with successful winning opening day fixtures, which they were looking to build on, whilst the under-10 and under-12 girls were playing their first games.

The under-10 travelled to Whiteley Blacks for a high-tempo opening contest. The youngest Bournemouth side were very dominant in their performance, and recorded an excellent result.

Meanwhile, the under-12s were involved in a 7-4 victory away at Portsmouth. The Cherries took the lead early on with Holly scoring her first two goals of the season within the opening ten minutes of the game, scoring her second from an impressive one-on-one situation.

Pompey were unlucky to concede an own goal, from a superb cross from Holly, to give the Cherries a three-goal lead within 20 minutes played. Aimee L. and Aimee C. added to Bournemouth's goal tally with superb long range efforts, whilst the hosts pulled one back to see the first half end 4-1.

Portsmouth started the second half strongly, netting twice in ten minutes to the narrow the lead. However, AFC Bournemouth regained control of the game, with Holly completing her hat-trick as she rounded the goalkeeper to give her side a two goal cushion. Kelcey’s long range strike was enough to seal the game for Cherries as the game finished 7-4.

The under-14 and under-16 teams both travelled to Eastleigh for their second fixtures of the season.

The under-14s recorded a very impressive win, with seven different scorers netting on the day. Hannah H. and Lucy recorded their first hat-tricks of the season, whilst Freya scored her opening goal for the club.

It was also another positive result for goalkeeper Orlaith, who recorded a second consecutive clean sheet.

In the under-16s fixture, Bournemouth won 4-2. First half goals from Grace M. and Olivia P. were cancelled out by two Eastleigh strikes. Continued pressure throughout the second half resulted in goals from Erin and a second from Olivia P. to see the Cherries take all three points for the second time this season.
