AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

Earlier this month, the Cherries Down Syndrome team hosted their first friendly fixture at Vitality Stadium, welcoming their guests from Dorset Abilities Group in Weymouth.

Starting the fixture with a tour of the stadium, both sets of players enjoyed looking around the home and away changing rooms, walking out of the tunnel and visiting the TV rooms for a post-match interview.

From here, the sides changed into their team colours and made their way round to the 3G pitches, where they took part in a warm-up and range of shooting games together, before moving into their small-sided fixtures.

During the match, both teams played some excellent football especially the two goalkeepers who made fantastic saves and the strikers who netted no less than 12 goals throughout the game.

On their debut, playing in the AFC Bournemouth colours, the Down Syndrome team played some nice football, with every outfield player marking their first appearance with a goal, whilst the ‘keeper and captain Jake made some brilliant saves.

The Cherries now look forward to another game at home on Sunday 8th December as they host Exeter.
