Day 8 of our 12 Days of Christmas: Citygate Church

Citygate Church are the eighth organisation to receive a special £1,000 donation from the 12 Days of Christmas Cherries Community Fund initiative.

The donation is part of the latest scheme which will see a dozen charities in Dorset given an equal share of £12,000 across the festive period to help spread some much needed joy in what’s been a tough year for many people.

Citygate are a local church operating a Community Hub six days a week that provide emergency food and support to local people in crisis.

They plan on using the funding for their Christmas Hamper Appeal which will feed 700 people for three days as well as give them all they need to celebrate Christmas as a family.

The hampers include a whole chicken, crackers, Christmas pudding and even a £10 toy voucher.

The Cherries Community Fund, which was set up by the club, has provided financial assistance to projects that help to develop young people and vulnerable groups, or those that promote sport and a healthy lifestyle.

The fund is financed from the proceeds of the popular Cherries Community Draw - prior to Covid - and any other donations the club receives.

Supporters recently voted and had their say as to which 12 charities would benefit from the scheme, with six charities already having received their donation so far this December.

Keep an eye out on our website in the run-up to Christmas to find out which other local organisations will benefit from the 12 Days of Christmas scheme.
