On day seven of our 12 Days of Christmas campaign, mental health charity, RJVN8, are the next local organisation that will receive £1,000 from the Cherries Community Fund.
The scheme sees a dozen charities from within Dorset receive an equal share of £12,000 across the festive period to help spread some much-needed cheer at the end of what has been an extremely tough year for many.
The money being donated comes from the Cherries Community Fund, which was set up by the club, and has provided financial assistance to projects that help to develop young people and vulnerable groups, or those that promote sport and a healthy lifestyle.
The fund is financed from the proceeds of the popular Cherries Community Draw - prior to Covid - and any other donations the club receives.
Supporters recently voted and had their say as to which 12 charities would benefit from the scheme, with six charities already having received their donation so far this December.
Next to benefit are RJVN8 Mental Health, who are a suicide prevention service that operate 24/7 and 365 days a year.
They cover addiction, PTSD, ADHD, behavioural disorders, anxiety, depression, bipolar, trauma and suicidal thoughts.
After receiving the news that they would be receiving a £1,000 donation, a charity spokesperson spoke with afcb.co.uk.
"We are going to send councillors in full PPE to our suffering, isolated and remote elderly with Mental Health challenges.
“We will send out a councillor on Christmas day to visit as many lonely and isolated people as possible with a small hamper, some tea and coffee, and most of all their time to speak and engage with them."
