Essential Drug & Alcohol Services (EDAS) are the sixth local organisation to receive £1,000 from the Cherries Community Fund.
The donation is part of the club’s 12 Days of Christmas campaign, which sees a dozen charities from within Dorset receive £1,000 to help spread some festive cheer.
The money being donated comes from the Cherries Community Fund, which was set up by the club, and has provided financial assistance to projects that help to develop young people and vulnerable groups, or those that promote sport and a healthy lifestyle.
The fund is financed from the proceeds of the popular Cherries Community Draw - prior to Covid - and any other donations the club receives.
Supporters recently voted and had their say as to which 12 charities would benefit from the scheme, with Forest Holme Hospice, Diverse Abilities, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, MyTime Young Carers and Home-Start all having received their donation so far this December.
Today is the turn of EDAS, who support young people and adults affected by substance misuse.
They offer one-to-one counselling, group therapy, community detoxes and an education pathway to enable users to realise a healthy lifestyle.
Speaking to afcb.co.uk, a spokesperson from EDAS said: "We are going to run a FitDAS Health & Well Being course throughout December.
“This short course leads to achievement of two nationally-recognised qualifications and provides the learners with skills to understand how food, nutrition, rest, exercise and sleep all play a vital role in one's physical and emotional well-being."
