MyTime Young Carers have been named as our fourth recipients of a £1,000 donation from the Cherries Community Fund.
As part of AFC Bournemouth’s 12 Days of Christmas campaign, 12 local charities will receive a one grand donation from the fund to help spread some festive cheer, with supporters having voted for the winning organisations.
The Cherries Community Fund, set up by the club, has provided financial assistance to projects that help to develop young people and vulnerable groups, or those that promote sport and a healthy lifestyle in the area of Dorset.
The fund is financed from the proceeds of the popular Cherries Community Draw - prior to Covid - and any other donations the club receives.
Our next recipient, MyTime Young Carers, works to level the playing field for young carers and young adult carers of those aged between 5-25.
The provide individuals with the support, the opportunities and a friendship that every child deserves.
Speaking with afcb.co.uk about how they would use the money, they said: “This year, we're holding an online Christmas party for all 550 young carers in Dorset.
"We aim to reward and thank young carers for their work, help relieve the stress that many young carers experience and unite the young carers of Dorset and to prove to them that they are not alone.
"Even better, we'll be gifting each young carer a Christmas jumper to wear to the event!"
Forest Holme Hospice, Diverse Abilities and Lewis-Manning Hospice Care have already been awarded a grant from the fund in the opening three days of the campaign, but keep your eyes peeled on our website in the run up to Christmas as we reveal more brilliant organisations who will benefit.
