Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has become the third local charity to benefit from the club’s 12 Days of Christmas campaign.
The scheme works in conjunction with the Cherries Community Fund and supports local organisations over the festive period after what has been a challenging year.
In the run up to Christmas, the fund is providing 12 local charities with a £1,000 donation to help spread some much-needed cheer, with AFC Bournemouth supporters having recently voted for the dozen organisations they wanted to see benefit.
The Cherries Community Fund, set up by the club, has provided financial assistance to projects that help to develop young people and vulnerable groups, or those that promote sport and a healthy lifestyle in the area of Dorset.
The fund is financed from the proceeds of the popular Cherries Community Draw - prior to Covid - and any other donations the club receives.
Forest Holme Hospice Charity and Diverse Abilities have been named as the first two charities to receive a donation, but today it is the turn of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
For 28 years, the organisation has been providing extraordinary care in the local community to patients, and their families, who are facing a life-limiting illness.
"The money will go towards the delivery of our ‘Box of Tricks’ initiative,” a spokesperson said.
“Festive themed activities will be delivered by staff and volunteers and will include a challenge to encourage mobility, festive quizzes to challenge the mind, plus plenty of treats and games.
“This will have the overriding goal of improving our patients’ physical and mental agility and will reassure them that they have not been forgotten."
