Day 2 of our 12 Days of Christmas: Diverse Abilities

Diverse Abilities are the next local charity to receive a £1,000 donation from the Cherries Community Fund.

The Cherries Community Fund, set up by the club, has provided financial assistance to projects that help to develop young people and vulnerable groups, or those that promote sport and a healthy lifestyle in the area of Dorset.

As part of AFC Bournemouth’s 12 Days of Christmas campaign, 12 local charities will receive a one grand donation from the fund to help spread some festive cheer, with supporters having voted for the winning organisations.

The fund is financed from the proceeds of the popular Cherries Community Draw - prior to Covid - and any other donations the club receives.

Forest Holme Hospice Charity were our first recipients and today it’s the turn of Diverse Abilities who will receive their £1,000 donation from the fund.

The organisation support over 1,600 individuals and their families every year. They enable such individuals to reach their full potential by providing a lifetime of sustainable support and educational services.

"Over Christmas, our services will remain unchanged,” they said to afcb.co.uk.

"With the donation, we will be able to run all ten of our Project My Time Christmas sessions for children with disabilities aged 8–18.

“Children will benefit from supported time with their peers and it will also give their families valuable respite."
