In line with the Premier League’s Writing Stars competition, AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust are running a local competition too.

The competition requires young people in the local area to write poems around the themes of AFC Bournemouth and resilience.

The Premier League Writing Stars competition looks for students in Key Stage 1 and 2 to use their knowledge of AFC Bournemouth and resilience, alongside their writing talents, to put together a poem. The poem needs to be no longer than 20 lines or 150 words in length.

The competition closes on Friday 8th December, and the lucky winner will receive an AFC Bournemouth goodie bag and a family ticket to the Boxing Day Premier League match between AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United. Their winning poem will be printed in the match day programme, displayed in the Junior Cherries Fan Zone and on the big screen.

The winning entry will also be entered in the National Premier League Writing Stars Competition.

Speaking about the initiative, head of community Steve Cuss said: "The Premier League Writing Stars competition is an exciting opportunity allowing local Primary School children to create a poem that reflects AFC Bournemouth. We're very much looking forward to reading the entries and selecting a winner."

Poems need to be submitted to Head of Community Steve Cuss, by either post; Steve Cuss, AFC Bournemouth, Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth, BH7 7AF or emailed to [email protected]
