Community welcome matchday guests

The boys and girls, who have all attended community programmes including Minikickers, Ability Counts and Soccer Schools, took part in their own training session on the 3G pitches behind Vitality Stadium before watching the game. For many, this was the first experience of watching a live Premier League fixture, and the children were all very excited.

Sporting their AFC Bournemouth colours and kits, the children sat behind the goal in the South Stand where they were able to see Ryan Fraser score his first goal of the season.

A small selection of the children were also on the pitch at half time, taking part in a penalty shootout against the Cardiff City fans.

Also in attendance with Community Sports Trust was a select group of players who have been participating in the Heads Up Football sessions at Vitality Stadium. These sessions run in partnership with the NHS and offer a safe environment to play football for those under 16 with any mental health difficulties.

“Saturday was a fantastic day, where we were able to bring in our younger participants not only to enjoy their own coaching session, but to experience Premier League football too,” he said.
