Community visit Primary Stars schools

This week, AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust visited three local primary schools, who were set to represent the Cherries in the Premier League Primary Stars tournament.

St Katharine’s School, Hamworthy Park Junior School and St Ives all won their respective competitions and were due to participate in the final at Watford in May against the 19 other Premier League clubs.

The tournaments were unable to go ahead due to the Covid-19, but the Community Sports Trust wanted to make sure that the children were all rewarded for their efforts.

This week, they made a trip to each of the schools to spend an hour working with the players in a coaching session, much like they would have in the build-up to the tournament.

To end the session, each of the players were rewarded with their own AFC Bournemouth match kit, which again they would have worn at the tournament and kept for themselves following the event.

Following the training sessions, head of community Steve Cuss spoke with afcb.co.uk.

“We were really pleased to be able to visit and organise the coaching sessions for the three schools, who would have represented AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League tournaments,” he said.

“Thank you to all who entered this year’s competition and congratulations to the three winning schools.”
