Community travel to Oman for skills trip

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

Earlier this month, head of community Steve Cuss and senior manager Andrew Battison visited Oman as part of the Premier Skills programme.

The four-day trip saw the Community Sports Trust deliver the community coaching course to a group of male and female coaches and teachers.

The course, both theory and practical based, educated the coaches in community coaching and how to establish projects within their own environments.

To put together everything they had learnt, the coaches hosted a football festival for local school children on the final day of the course, supported by the Premier Skills educators.

The final day of the coaching trip saw AFC Bournemouth coaches teach in the British School, Muscat, which is Oman’s leading British School. They coached the children during their school lessons before bringing out the Premier League trophy.

Summarising the trip, Steve Cuss spoke to afcb.co.uk.

“It was fantastic to be able to share our community practices with the teachers and coaches in Oman as part of the Premier Skills programme.

“Working in partnership with the Premier League, British Council and Oman FA, we hope the delivery will prove to be a benefit to all those who took part.”
