Throughout October, AFC Bournemouth's Community Sports Trust have been delivering Anti-Discrimination and No Room for Racism workshops to pupils across local primary and secondary schools.
Through the Premier League Primary Stars programme, over 200 young people at Parley First School took part in anti-discrimination workshop sessions.
A whole school assembly was delivered to introduce the topic to the young students, before Year 4 classes took part in the one-hour workshops, learning the differences between race and ethnicity, being an ally and what we can do to end racism.
The Premier League Inspires programme visited four schools, working specifically with 40 targeted individuals, looking at the Premier League’s No Room for Racism workshop.
Students from Twynham School, Magna Academy, Connie Rothman Trust and Iford Academy learnt more about discrimination, and how to challenge it, report it and change it.
To follow up on the fantastic work achieved by selected Premier League Inspires students, five young people from across the schools were rewarded with tickets to the AFC Bournemouth's Premier League match against Wolves, which was the club’s dedicated matchday for No Room to Racism.
Speaking about the importance of these workshops and supporting campaigns such as Black History Month, head of community Steve Cuss told afcb.co.uk: “Workshops within schools and organisations provided the platform to discuss Black History Month in detail throughout October.”
