AFC Bournemouth are delighted to confirm the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED) funded by club partners MSP Capital with the assistance of Wellington King.
A defibrillator is a potentially life-saving piece of equipment which is used to revive someone who has suffered sudden cardiac arrest.
It will be in attendance for as many community events as possible, covering sessions such as Goals, walking football, and the disability and women’s teams.
The Community Sports Trust staff have been trained on how to use the equipment, and new staff will receive defibrillator training.
The club are grateful to MSP Capital and Wellington King for their assistance in purchasing such an important piece of equipment, as well as the Cherries Trust for initiating the process.
Head of the Community Sports Trust, Steve Cuss, told afcb.co.uk: “We would like to thank both MSP Capital and Wellington King for their support in enabling us to purchase this vital piece of equipment.
“The AED forms part of our emergency aid equipment that we carry to our activities across the area, giving participants and staff the confidence and knowledge that the equipment is on hand should it be needed.”
Adam Tovey, Valuation Director at MSP Capital, said: “We sincerely hope the machine we have bought and donated will never be used, but this is about giving reassurance to people in our community.
“We want the people who the Trust work with to know they can have ready access to a defibrillator if they ever need it.”
Mark Dean, chairman of the Cherries Trust, commented: “The Cherries Trust promotes community involvement, strengthening the bond between the club and the community it serves.
“We were thrilled that MSP, Wellington King and the club, particularly Rob Mitchell and Steve Cuss, have been so supportive in helping us to make our latest project a reality.
