AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

Head of Community Sports Trust Steve Cuss updates afcb.co.uk on the latest happenings in and around the local area.

The school year is winding down fast, we’ll only be working in local schools now for a maximum of another five weeks, which is exciting as we approach the summer holidays. During this time of the year, we are excited to be able lots of festivals and other football opportunities for young people.

Last week we hosted a Can Do Football Festival for Year 3 and 4 pupils with learning and physical disabilities at Carter School. The children who took part played in a variety of different football coaching sessions, before finishing up with some small-sided games. We’re back there again this Friday hosting another tournament for Year 5 and 6 pupils.

We are also building up to our second annual beach weekend. During the three days, we will host Primary Stars PE Lessons, Premier League Kicks, Girls and Disability football festivals. We will be inviting a selection of our Linked Clubs down to take part in different events too.

To end our beach festival weekend, we will be training with the AFC Bournemouth Girls and Women’s teams, which will also form part of their pre-season work. It is nearly time for that to kick-off again for the teams, who return to their training schedule in the first week of July.

To end this article, I would also like to mention the Powerchair South East Regional Team who completed their season with two excellent wins on Sunday. The six points ensured that they won the Division Two title, which when added to the promotion of the first team equals a very successful first season for the AFC Bournemouth Squads.

We are also delighted to announce that Regan Kemp picked up an individual award on Sunday, as he finished the Division Two Top goal-scorer. We are very proud of the team for their achievements this season and are looking forward to progressing even further next year.

Girls World Cup Football Festival

On Wednesday 26th June, we look forward to hosting a Women’s World Cup Themed Football Festival at Canford 3G for girls aged 7-16 years old. The turn up and play tournament will run 5-6.30pm for girls aged 7-11 and 6.30-8pm for girls aged 12-16. Just turn up and join in, it’s free to play!

Free Football on Sunday Evenings

We continue to host our Sunday evening free football sessions right throughout the summer. Join us at Vitality Stadium, 5-6pm if you’re 8-10 years old, 6-7pm for the 11-13 year old session or 7-8pm if you’re 14-19 years old. There is also a girls only 11-16 year old session 6-7pm. These are free of charge to attend.
