Head of Community Sports Trust Steve Cuss updates afcb.co.uk on the latest happenings in and around the local area.

Last week was a busy one for our Premier League Primary Stars project. We had a player appearance at Pokesdown Primary School and a 14-school tournament to end the week, alongside our normal delivery of PE lessons, lunch time and after-school clubs. We worked with over 250 children on the programme.

On Wednesday afternoon, Nathan Ake and Jordon Ibe joined us for a PE lesson with the Year 6 pupils at Pokesdown Community Primary School. Around 30 children took part in our practical activity, before the rest of the year joined the group for a question and answer session.

Nathan is our project ambassador and he’s supported it right from September and the start of the school year and, along with our commercial sponsor Medhurst IT, have been to a number of sessions. It is always special when they come along. The kids have been given good advice and it was a good afternoon at the school.

To end the week, we hosted a Year 3 and 4 mixed tournaments at Pelham’s Park, which was attended by 14 different schools from Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset. There was some brilliant football on show from all of the boys and girls and it was a great competition.

St James and Kinson Academy played in the Festival Final, which was ultimately won by Kinson Academy, after a thrilling game.

This weekend, we are looking forward to hosting our Cathedral City Tri-Cup, a three team pan-disability Tournament.

Cup wins for AFC Bournemouth girls

AFC Bournemouth Under-10 and Under-14 girls have recently won some silverware. The under-10s were victorious in the Hampshire Girls League Cup final for a second successive season, whilst the under-14 girls won the Hampshire County Cup in spectacular fashion last weekend.

Premier League Kicks Cup

We’re close to the Premier League Kicks Cup, which is a national tournament hosted by the Premier League for 15 and 16-year olds. We’re looking forward to taking 16 young people to Warwick for the tournament during the Easter holidays.

Community visit Gregory Terrace

Next week, we head out to Brisbane Australia for a bi-annual trip to work with the students from St Joseph’s College. We're looking forward to a week coaching the pupils on the Soccer School sessions. They’ll be regular updates on our Twitter feed @afcbcommunity, so head over there to keep updated!
