AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust is delighted to continue to deliver the support given to local grassroots football coaches.

Two innovative coach development opportunities are brand new for the 2023/24 season – the coaches’ academy and the coaching hub.

The coaches’ academy is open to individuals from distinct groups, including various protected characteristics, to be supported through a series of bespoke learning.

This will include continuous professional development (CPD) sessions, mentoring, work experience and formal qualifications.

The coaches’ academy is offered with support from the Premier League PFA fund.

The coaching hub is open to all and offers a variety of in-person and online workshops.

Delivered in partnership with AFC Bournemouth academy staff, the workshops will provide an opportunity to learn more around the academy and how it operates, session planning and design and working with players in specific positions.

Workshop delivery has started with ‘What makes an academy?’, delivered by coaches from the Cherries’ academy, with plans in motion for the next series of workshops.

If you’re interested in finding out more about either of these programmes, please get in touch with community senior manager Andrew Battison on [email protected] or head of community Steve Cuss on [email protected]
