As part of the Community Sports Trust’s linked club programme, we are delighted to be able to offer coaches Continued Professional Development (CPD) workshops and events.
This November has seen three events take place at Vitality Stadium, with over 100 coaches in attendance.
The first looked specifically at the social corner in female football. Linking with Hampshire County FA and the women’s high-performance centre, the coaches looked at engaging, working with and developing across this crucial corner in player’s development.
Following a theory introduction, the coaches observed practical sessions led by Perry Northeast, FA development officer of the women’s high-performance centre.
Days later, over 60 coaches from across the south took part in the first part of a unique goalkeeping CPD event, led by Anthony White, AFC Bournemouth’s first team assistant goalkeeping coach, alongside other key personnel from the club’s goalkeeping department.
The coaches learned some of the intricacies of producing goalkeepers from the forward-thinking department, as key topics included session design, physical attributes, modern trends and the scouting process.
The final event coincided with the under-23s Premier League Cup match, as we hosted an event prior to kick off. Those taking part discussed the expectations from the match, factors to consider, player availability and they were also given an insight into the preparation of the side in the build-up to the game.
Following the workshop, the 18 coaches in attendance took their seat in the stadium and carried out some match analysis of the game at half time, before discussing their notes during the break.
Head of community, Steve Cuss, spoke of his delight following the three successful events: “We are pleased to be able to continue offering local coaches the opportunity to gain insight and knowledge through workshops, covering a variety of different areas of AFC Bournemouth.”
