Community celebrate September's disability highlights

September has been a busy month for the AFC Bournemouth Disability programme, with all weekly sessions kicking off for the season along with the start of league campaigns for many of the teams.

To start the month, all players returned to their weekly training sessions. Monday evenings at Slades Park are dedicated to our Disability Performance Pathway, with the Ability Counts under-12, under-16 and senior teams joining the impairment-specific sides for their weekly training sessions.

The Thursday evening sessions at the Littledown Centre also returned, offering a recreational pan-disability session for participants of all ages with pan-disabilities.

For our powerchair team, their WFA National League season commenced on 8th September, with the side travelling to Nottingham for their opening fixtures.

One win and one draw across the five games saw a good start for the team, playing games matches Sale United, Muscle Warriors, Manchester City, Villa Rockets and Teeside Steel.

Away from training and matches, it was great to welcome a selection of players from the Ability Counts under-12s to the Premier League game against Chelsea. The youngsters took part in some pre-match activities in the Junior Cherries fanzone, ahead of being flagbearers as the teams walked out on the pitch.
