Cherries stars visit holiday soccer school

AFC Bournemouth held their latest half term soccer school session at Avonbourne School on Tuesday.

With over 60 children in attendance, activities included football drills and small sided games.

A Minikickers session and a Girls Only session were just two of those taking place, and those in attendance were treated to a special surprise at the end of the day.

AFC Bournemouth first team players, Charlie Daniels and Andrew Surman, both arrived in the afternoon to meet the children, sign autographs and take part in a question and answer session.

Afterwards, the Cherries stars posed for photos with the entire group, resulting in some very happy young players.

AFC Bournemouth would like to extend its thanks to soccer school sponsors, CMP Print, who have been trading for over 21 years and supporting the sessions for three consecutive seasons.

Owner of CMP Print, Paul Dawe, who was on hand to give out prizes at the soccer school, spoke to afcbTV about the growth of the sessions.

“It’s great to see the kids smiling and it’s good to put something back into the community,” he began.

“The first year we came, the kids were in Manchester United and Chelsea shirts, whereas now they take their bibs off and they’re all in Bournemouth shirts!”

Head of community, Steve Cuss, also commented on the sessions.

“The kids have turned out in their numbers today and it’s been great fun,” he said.

“We’ve done a mix of coaching in the morning and then, in the afternoon, we try and put that to the test with some matches.”
