Charity partners confirmed for 21/22

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth are delighted to announce the club’s four charity partners for the 2021/22 season.

The four local charities were selected after being nominated and then voted for by four key areas of the club – supporters, Junior Cherries, AFC Business and club staff.

The chosen charities will receive support from the club throughout the 2021/22 campaign which will include profile-raising player appearances, signed merchandise and club media support.

The four charities for the new season are:

Supporters – Hope for Food

Hope for Food is a local organisation based in Bournemouth, set up and run entirely by volunteers. The organisation was founded with the aim of providing life’s basic essentials on a day-to-day basis to people in need of help due to the current economic climate.

They provide two community meals each week and also supply food hampers weekly to families referred to them. They also provide toiletries, clothing, bedding and small household items.

AFC Business – Lewis-Manning Hospice Care

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care aim to provide the community with outstanding hospice day care and support. Living with a life-limiting illness can be a very isolating experience, provided at the hospice is a calm, welcoming place where people make friends, share their concerns and receive the practical, emotional and social help they and their families need to cope and live well.

The charity's activities include a day hospice, a clinic for people living with lymphoedema and a clinic for those with chronic lung disease. They also run an art and wellbeing group and have a family support and bereavement service.

Club – MYTIME Young Carers

MYTIME exist to level the playing field for young carers aged five to 25. With caring responsibilities consuming so much of their time and energy, young carers experience significant disadvantage in their personal and social lives, at school and later in the world of work.

With limited opportunities for leisure activities and socialising, many struggle with feelings of isolation, lack of identity and poor mental and physical health. MYTIME provide young carers with much-needed respite from their caring responsibilities and work with schools and employers to help young carers achieve their full potential.

Junior Cherries – The Isabel Baker Foundation

The Isabel Baker Foundation’s mission is to support families of children with cancer and other life-limiting or terminal illnesses.

They support families in three ways. The Crisis Fund provides food vouchers, household appliances, tablets for children who cannot attend school for medical reasons, funeral costs and other essential costs. The Dry Suit Fund/Campaign provides children with a Hickman Line the opportunity to safely enjoy water again, such as swimming pools, baths, sea and paddling pools. Finally, the Wish List Fund provides a specified gift for a child with life-limiting or terminal illnesses.
