Celebrating October’s Disability Highlights

October has been a busy month for the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust Disability programme, with over 130 players participating in weekly training sessions.

From those participating, 82 players have been taking part in fixtures across six different teams.

The season got underway for many of the teams in October, with the Ability Counts under-12s, under-16s and senior sides all competing in their opening fixtures of the season in the Eastleigh Pan-Disability League in Southampton.

This was followed by the Downs Syndrome and Senior Ability Counts kicking off their season in the Kixstart Inclusion Hub fixtures at the Dorset FA County Ground the following weekend.

The under-16s Ability Counts team were also welcomed to Vitality Stadium for matchday activity, ahead of the Burnley game. The players took part in their own pre-match coaching session and small-sided fixture, ahead of taking on the role as flagbearers for when the Premier League teams walked out on to the pitch.

Our Powerchair Development Team took part in friendly fixtures ahead of their opening South East Powerchair League fixtures.

Two brilliant games for the Cherries saw the side beat Farnham 7-0 and Sevenoaks Development 1-0.

The season will officially start for the team in January, all fixtures, results and the up to date league table will be able to be followed here.
