Australian group visit Community Sports Trust

AFC Bournemouth's Community Sports Trust were recently delighted to welcome students, teachers and coaches from St Joseph’s College in Brisbane, Australia.

Visiting for seven days, following a week in London, the group were based at Ringwood Community Hub for their training sessions, using the new 3G pitch and facilities.

Along with their coaching sessions, the students took part in matches against community groups, including the Football Education Programme's college students and young people from the weekly Premier League Kicks sessions.

Trips to Vitality Stadium were also included for the group, who took part in an exclusive look behind the scenes with a tour of the changing rooms, media suites and pitchside areas, as well as a matchday experience visiting a Premier League game.

The final part of the tour saw the students meet AFC Bournemouth Development Squad players, Max Kinsey and Toure Williams. The group heard about their experiences in the academy and their journey to where they are now, before having the opportunity to ask their own questions and get autographs with the players.

The Community Sports Trust has had a working partnership with St Joseph’s College since 2016, with touring groups from the school visiting Bournemouth and Community Sports Trust coaches working in Australia.

Speaking after the tour, Head of Community Steve Cuss spoke with afcb.co.uk: “We were delighted to welcome back St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace to Bournemouth on a football tour.”

“The group of 44 were a pleasure to work with, and we hope that some great memories were created.”
