AFC Bournemouth Warriors’ powerchair players recently achieved promotion to the Premiership for the 2022/23 campaign.

With their final round of fixtures last week, the Warriors faced a five-match day with the ability to jump up a division on the line.

Standing in the powerchair side’s way were Brighton & Hove Albion, Hull & East Riding, Middlesbrough, Dudley and Sale United.

An emphatic display saw the Cherries win all five matches, scoring 11 goals without a reply from the opposition sides in the process.

Despite a 3-0 win over Brighton, the Seagulls still claimed top spot in the division while the Warriors finished second to achieve promotion.

Both the Seagulls and the Cherries finished on 58 points, however, the former had a superior goal difference.

With the league season over, the Cherries’ powerchair team are set to face Leeds Dynamos in the WFA Cup this weekend.

AFC Bournemouth’s head of community Steve Cuss spoke to afcb.co.uk and shared his congratulations on the team’s promotion.

He said: “Congratulations to the players and coaches of the powerchair team on gaining promotion to the Premiership.

“The team have enjoyed a fantastic season and gained reward for all their hard work in training and dedication.”
