Ability Counts teams enjoy another successful weekend

Last weekend, the Ability Counts under-12 and under-16 squads played in their second round of Hampshire League fixtures at Tonybee School in Eastleigh.

The under-12 Reds continued their winning streak from the previous fixtures, picking up four wins from four games. Finley Smith started the day well, twice getting his name on the scoresheet in the first game of the day.

Their counterparts, the Blacks, also had a great day of fixtures, which saw James Read play his first games of the season.

Despite only winning one out of their four fixtures, the Blacks showed great resilience throughout the day and the players never gave up. They remained supportive of each other and displayed some great team performances.

The two AFC Bournemouth under-16 teams started their days in a strong position at the top of their league table. Both had successful games, remaining unbeaten and mirroring each other with three wins and a draw.

AFC Bournemouth Reds player, Aaron Roberts, opened up his goal tally for the season, with a nice first time finish. The cross came in from Cameron Smith on the left wing, with Roberts able to slot the ball in the bottom corner from five-yards out beating the Academica Futsal goalkeeper.

Both Under 16 goalkeepers, Dylan Wyatt-Brown and Kadin Jacques, kept clean sheets, whilst debutant Aiden Hughes was close to scoring.

Following the day, Ability Counts Co-ordinator Kate Shepard spoke of the event.

“Today was definitely a day for great performances. Not one player gave up when faced with any adversity or tough games, especially the under-12 Cherries team,” she said.

“There was a great standard of football on display and it was an enjoyable day for all.”
