Last weekend, AFC Bournemouth’s Ability Counts under-12s and under-16s took part in their first fixtures of the season.
The under-12s kicked off their league campaigns, whilst the under-16’s played a round of friendlies.
In total, three under-12 teams played in their league last weekend, and four players made their debut. One of these, Brandon Hill, who joined the under-12 reds, started well and was involved in some brilliant play throughout the day, which led his team to picking up three wins and out of their four games.
There were mixed results for the under-12 blacks, but their stand out match was the first of the day against Portsmouth ITC, where the Cherries produced a convincing 6-1 win, with Adi Dove scoring four, and a brace from Alfie Gibbs adding to the tally.
The final under-12 team, the Cherries, also picked up their first win of the season, with Ryan Pestall and debutant Noah Feltham scoring during their 2-0 victory over Pompey ITC. Feltham, also scored the Cherries' only goal in their game against Eastleigh FC whites, to ensure they picked up another three points.
Both under-16 teams were also in action this weekend, with Grant Middlewick and Bradley Singleton making their full debuts. With their league fixtures not kicking off until December, the teams enjoyed their friendlies against Pompey ITC, Fawley Falcons and Eastleigh FC Spitfires.
The usual standard of passing football was on display from both the under-16 reds and blacks, one move finishing with a great pass across the box that went straight to the feet of Aiden Hughes who couldn’t miss. Cameron Clark was also able to bag his first goal of the season whilst playing Pompey ITC.
Following the day, Ability Counts coordinator Katy Shephard said, “I am so pleased today to have witnessed so many great aspects of football on show from our boys and girls.”
